The song questions who will end the relationship first. This song became one of the most powerful\/popular among dedicated fans in the wake of former member Zayn Malik leaving the group shortly after the album\u00a0<em>Four\u00a0<\/em>was released. He was the first member to leave the group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evaluating Masculinity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While this song doesn&#8217;t necessarily acknowledge any gender, since this song is sung by men, I&#8217;ll say that this song really subverts the stereotype that men aren&#8217;t allowed to be emotional. Here, we can see them questioning whats going to happen in the relationship:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Who&#8217;s gonna be the first one to start the fight?<br \/>\nWho&#8217;s gonna be the first one to fall asleep at night?<br \/>\nWho&#8217;s gonna be the last one to drive away?<br \/>\nWho&#8217;s gonna be the last one to forget this place?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s doubtful, worried, and confused overall.
