While analyzing with the Sex Role Perspective, I will utilize the items for evaluating masculinity and femininity as presented by Hyde (1995, p. 134), and these specific items will be <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">italicized<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In this post, I will be discussing the music video for \u201cMoto\u201d by Diler Kharkiya.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Link to video: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tJGBVigwPlU\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Moto (Official Video)| Ajay Hooda | Diler Kharkiya | Anjali Raghav | Latest Haryanvi Song 2020<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Evaluating Masculinity<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Reinforcing stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A man steals the main female character\u2019s purse, and one of the main male characters stops him and slaps him. This scene portrays stereotypically masculine traits of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">aggression, forcefulness, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">willingness to take risks<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Additional scenes of the two main male characters sitting on their convertible car and riding a motorcycle reinforce these traits.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The two main male characters are competing to win over the main female character, portraying the male characters as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">competitive<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ambitious<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Resisting stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The two main male characters have a very close friendship and show this by hugging each other, kissing each other on the cheek, pinching each others\u2019 faces, laughing together, and more. This portrays these two characters as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">affectionate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">warm<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> towards each other, stereotypically feminine traits.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The two main male characters are constantly joking around and laughing, and they wear outfits that are very colorful. These things portray them as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cheerful<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">childlike<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, stereotypically feminine traits.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The two main male characters are shown in the kitchen cooking together with aprons on in one scene. This scene defies generally masculine stereotypes and shows the male characters in a more domestic, stereotypically <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">feminine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> role.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Evaluating Femininity<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Reinforcing stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Throughout the music video, the main female character is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">not susceptible to flattery<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Throughout the music video, there are reoccurring scenes of the female character sitting on a throne smiling for the camera, with the wind blowing her hair. This is a stereotypical feminine scene that portrays her as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cheerful<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">warm<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Presenting her in this way is also somewhat objectifying, as emphasis is put on her physical appearance alone.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Resisting stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">The female character tends to be more serious in most scenes compared to the male characters and is shown going about her day alone in most scenes.
