But does this episode pass the Bechdel Test?<\/p>\n<p>Are there women in the episode:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Li<\/li>\n<li>Lo<\/li>\n<li>Azula<\/li>\n<li>Ty Lee<\/li>\n<li>Mai<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do the women talk to each other:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ty Lee, Mai, and Azula all talk to each other<\/li>\n<li>Li and Lo talked to Ty Lee, Mai, and Azula<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do they talk about something other than men:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ty Lee, Mai, and Azula are talking strategy about how to defeat another team of playing volleyball. Plus they also talk about their feelings and why they are the way they are because of their pasts<\/li>\n<li>Li and Lo explain that on Ember Island, you will find out something about yourself to Ty Lee, Mai, and Azula when they arrived<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This episode does pass the Bechdel Test as there were multiple women and they were talking to each other about themselves. This episode had a big theme of self-identity and why some of the characters are they way they are. Ty Lee is a girl who is flirtatious with boys because she grew up in a family with 6 sisters and they all looked alike so she was craving attention. Which is why she joined the circus so that she can have some attention towards her. Mai doesn\u2019t care about anything because her mother told her to keep her dad\u2019s political career in mind so you shouldn\u2019t do anything that can jeopardize it. Because of this, Mai never stepped out of line and tried to do anything that could jeopardize her dad\u2019s career. Lastly, Azula wasn\u2019t liked by her mother and didn\u2019t receive as much love as Zuko did which made her upset that Zuko got more attention than she did. Plus Azula said that their mother called her a monster, but Azula is pretending that it doesn\u2019t bother her while deep down it definitely does. This episode showed a lot of self-identity to some characters that aren\u2019t on Team Avatar and it is cool to see that the side characters aren\u2019t forgotten and they are also people who have personality which is something you don\u2019t see in tv shows.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This episode was more about the identity of some of the characters when they go on vacation to a place called Ember Island.
