I will be using The Sex-Role Perspective to examine what it means to be a woman according to women in a male-dominated genre. To best explore the Sex-Role Perspective, my analysis will consist of highlighting emotions that fall under stereotypically female and counter-stereotypical emotions pulled from Hyde (1995, p. 134).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Stereotypical emotions conveyed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI&#8217;m too thin, too fat\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Women are told to hyper fixated on their appearance<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cRound and round here we go again\/Same old story, same old end\/Turn my head\/And turn back again\/Same old stuff never ends\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Feeling hopeless<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Contersterotypical emotions conveyed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDon&#8217;t want to grow up\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Women take on responsibilities at a Super early age \u2192 more boyish emotion<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Conclusion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This song, while the lyrics repeat throughout it, shows to the singer feels trapped in a space that isn\u2019t good for her. The stagnation of the mundane becomes infuriating and suffocating. Growing up comes not only with the expectations of society but the expectations placed on yourself.
