{"id":4318,"date":"2021-10-04T19:13:20","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T19:13:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gamportfolio.drkretz.knight.domains\/gender-roles-in-popular-romantic-movies-of-the-2000s\/gender-roles-in-how-to-lose-a-guy-in-10-days\/"},"modified":"2021-10-04T19:13:20","modified_gmt":"2021-10-04T19:13:20","slug":"gender-roles-in-how-to-lose-a-guy-in-10-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gamportfolio.drkretz.knight.domains\/gender-roles-in-popular-romantic-movies-of-the-2000s\/gender-roles-in-how-to-lose-a-guy-in-10-days\/","title":{"rendered":"Gender Roles in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The media I will be analyzing is the movie <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In this post I will be outlining the stereotypical gender roles given to us by the sex role perspective portrayed in the film by the two main characters: Andie and Ben.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Andie:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As research for Andie\u2019s article she\u2019s writing about, she pretends to act with stereotypical female roles such as overly emotional, childlike, affectionate, and clingy to see if it drives away Ben &#8211; which it does &#8211; until she starts to actually act like herself.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Her actual character is very calm, soft spoken, understanding, and compassionate.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She is very career driven, which is why she acts \u201ccrazy\u201d to get an article written and published for work.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Andie goes to the bar, with the intention of meeting a man, wearing a low cut, open back dress = Male gaze.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ben:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ben is really athletic and into sports. The only reason he agrees to a date with Andie while she is acting crazy is because she has tickets to the big basketball game.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Independent\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Very masculine, in his job, dress, etc<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Smokes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The media I will be analyzing is the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
