{"id":4189,"date":"2021-09-28T18:24:14","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T18:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gamportfolio.drkretz.knight.domains\/gender-roles-in-popular-romantic-movies-of-the-2000s\/gender-roles-in-someone-great\/"},"modified":"2021-09-28T18:24:14","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T18:24:14","slug":"gender-roles-in-someone-great","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gamportfolio.drkretz.knight.domains\/gender-roles-in-popular-romantic-movies-of-the-2000s\/gender-roles-in-someone-great\/","title":{"rendered":"Gender Roles in Someone Great"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The media I will be analyzing is the movie <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Someone Great.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In this post I will be outlining the stereotypical gender roles given to us by the sex role perspective portrayed in the film by each of the female leads: Jenny, Blair and Erin, as well as the male lead, Nate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jenny:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">very affectionate towards Nate when they are together, very touchy, as well as calls him pet names<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Very loyal. Jenny dates Nate for almost 10 years, and even after they break up she does not want to be with anyone else.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jenny is very emotional. The whole film takes place immediately after her breakup with Nate, and most of it she is crying.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Blair:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Blair is very feminine<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Does not use harsh language<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Soft spoken\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Compassionate and eager to sooth Jenny\u2019s hurt feelings<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Level headed, is usually trying to talk Jenny and Erin out of bad choices\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not susceptible to flattery, she is very \u201chard to get\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Very cheerful\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Erin:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Yielding and shy<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Very loyal to her friends\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Unlike the other female characters, Erin is lesbian, and has more masculine traits such as<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not emotional: she hides her feelings for her girlfriend<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Is non commital: she refuses to call her girlfriend \u201cher girlfriend\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nate:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Very assertive, especially with Jenny<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Very masculine in the way he dresses and talks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Strong personality<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Makes decisions easily, very easily broke up with Jenny<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The media I will be analyzing is the movie Someone Great.
