The sixth song I will be analyzing is “Stand Up” off of the\u00a0Up All Night\u00a0<\/em>album. This love song describes a boy who is willing to do anything and everything to be with the girl he loves.<\/p>\n

Evaluating Masculinity<\/strong><\/p>\n

The guy in this song is extremely aggressive with describing his love for this girl. Take a look at the first lyric in the song:<\/p>\n

“From the moment I met you, everything changed
\nI knew I had to get you, whatever the pain
\nI had to take you and make you mine”<\/p>\n

If any guy said this to me I would be terrified. It’s very forceful and doesn’t take in the perspective of the woman in this situation.<\/p>\n

“So put your hands up
\nCause it’s a stand up
\nAnd I won’t be leaving ’til I finish stealing every piece of your heart
\nEvery piece of your heart”<\/p>\n

“And I will steal us a car
\nAnd we will drive to the stars
\nI will give you the moon
\nIt’s the least I can do if you give me the chance”<\/p>\n

I would say this is any example of “willing to take risks” found in the Sex Role Perspective. “Stealing every piece of your heart” and “I will steal us a car” are both examples of theft. Theft is a pretty risky thing to do. So risky that it is against the law. Regardless of if One Direction plan on stealing someones heart or a car, these lyrics represent the lengths the guy is willing to go to get with the girl.<\/p>\n

Evaluating Femininity<\/strong><\/p>\n
